WOOZI of the K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN has released his newest track in honor of ASTRO member Moonbin, who passed away last year.
The song called What kind of future dropped on all streaming platforms at 11 p.m. on Thursday Philippine time, or Friday midnight in South Korea, coinciding with Moonbin’s supposed 26th birthday.
This single release is also the artist’s fulfillment of a promise he made with Moonbin, after the latter listened to the song and expressed his fondness over it.
In a comment posted on one of Moonbin’s Instagram posts, Woozi penned a letter dedicated to his late friend, promising him that he will release What kind of future as a special gift on his birthday.
“’What Kind of Future’ that you always kept asking when I would release it, I’ll make sure to release it on your birthday, even if I have to fight with the company,” Woozi wrote as translated from Korean by Allkpop.
“I’m sorry that this is the only thing I can do for you. I love you, cherish you, and thank you. You will always remain the coolest and most appreciated younger brother in my heart,” he added.

Moonbin was discovered dead in his home in April 2023. He was 25.
His management did not reveal the cause of his death, but investigators suspected it was a case of apparent suicide.
