Filipina teen Elisia set to debut as K-pop idol

Following in the footsteps of Chanty of Lapillus, HORI7ON, and Sophia of KATSEYE, another Filipina talent is about to raise our flag in the K-pop industry.

Elisia Parmisano is the first to secure a spot in an upcoming K-pop group formed through the SBS K-pop reality survival show Universe Ticket.

This is after the 14-year-old managed to reach the P level, the highest level on the show, making her the first to cement a spot in the planned eight-member act.

The group is reportedly debuting under the management of entertainment company F&F.

Parmisano is among the 82 trainees from all over the world who joined the reality show in the hopes of debuting in the K-pop industry. They are made to complete several missions and fight for the eight seats in the girl group.

Following these missions, the contestants are categorized into five levels to determine their rank in the survival show, depending on their performances and fan votes: P, R, I, S, and M.

Judges, also called Unicorns, include actress and singer Kim Se-jeong, Girls Generation’s Hyoyeon, singer-songwriter and record producer Younha, Rian of LaChica, and singer, songwriter, and record producer Adora.

Another Filipina trainee, Gehlee Dangca, is currently ranked second and is in a close competition for the second-highest level in the show: R Level.

Korean-Filipina Jin Hyeon-ju, a member of K-pop girl group Cignature, is also among the 15 other remaining contestants who are still in the running to debut with Parmisano.

Meanwhile, another Filipina trainee, Aya Natsumi, was earlier eliminated from the competition.

Parmisano’s upcoming debut was announced just two months after 20-year-old Sophia Laforteza was hailed as the first member of the multinational K-pop girl group KATSEYE co-created by K-pop giant HYBE and American label Geffen Records.

The said group was also formed under another survival show The Debut: Dream Academy.
