Afternoon Thunderstorm Likely in Metro Manila and Surrounding Areas

As of 8:00 AM today, June 20,2025, no Low Pressure Areas (LPA) are being monitored within or near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). However, the country remains under the influence of the easterlies, bringing warm and humid conditions, along with scattered rain showers, across several parts of Luzon and Visayas.

In Luzon, rains are currently being experienced in Aurora, Quezon Province, Laguna, and Bulacan, with localized thunderstorms observed in these areas. Metro Manila is experiencing partly cloudy skies but is expected to have a high chance of rain and thunderstorms beginning at 3:00 PM onwards.

Meanwhile, in Mindanao and parts of Palawan, a convergence of wind systemsβ€”including easterlies from the Northern Hemisphere and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ)β€”is contributing to the formation of thick cloud cover. This weather pattern is likely to produce sudden heavy rain showers and possible thunderstorms throughout the day.

The following areas are forecasted to experience moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening:

  • Zamboanga Peninsula
  • Tawi-Tawi
  • Basilan
  • Sarangani
  • Sultan Kudarat
  • Davao Region
  • CARAGA Region
  • Southern Palawan

Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas are advised to take necessary precautions and monitor official weather bulletins.
