3 Filipina trainees to debut in new K-pop group

TWO more Filipina trainees will be debuting in the rookie global girl group formed through a South Korean survival reality show.

Universe Ticket just aired its final episode on Wednesday and the newest K-pop girl group, UNIS, has completed its eight members.

Aside from 14-year-old Filipina talent Elisia Parmisano, who secured the first spot in the group after achieving the highest rank in the competition, two more Filipinas are included in the final line-up.

This includes 16-year-old Gehlee Danca from Las Piñas City, who ranked 4th in the competition, and 22-year-old Filipino-Korean Jin Hyeon-ju, who placed 6th.

Jin, who is also known as Belle or Lucky on-stage, is also part of other K-pop girl groups Cignature and GOOD DAY.

Parmisano was the first Universe Ticket contestant to cement her spot in the upcoming girl band, making history as the first Filipino to lead a Korean survival show.

Meanwhile, UNIS is the first-ever K-pop girl group with a Filipino-line, as per South Korean entertainment website Koreaboo.

The Filo-line will be joining Koreans Bang Yunha, Oh Yoon-a and Lim Seowon, and Japanese members Nana and Kotoko in the group.

Although no official debut date has been revealed, many K-pop fans are excited to see what UNIS has in store.

The Universe Ticket began with 82 international contestants who share the same dream of becoming a K-pop idol. Out of this, 16 finalists were chosen to complete missions and fight to secure their seat in the eight-member group.

UNIS will be under the management of F&F Entertainment for two years and six months with a possibility of a two-year extension contract.
