The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) updates that as of June 7 at 5:00 a.m., both the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and a Low Pressure Area (LPA) that entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) last Friday are currently influencing weather conditions across the country.
The LPA has medium chance to potentially develop into a tropical cyclone within the next few days. If it intensifies, it will become the first named storm of the year, called Auring.
From today through next week, heavy and continuous rainfall is forecasted in the following regions: MIMAROPA, Panay Island, Negros Island, Bicol Region, CALABARZON, Metro Manila, and the western parts of Central Luzon including Zambales and Bataan. Residents should also expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
A Yellow Rainfall Warning has been issued for several parts of Luzon. Authorities advise residents to remain vigilant against potential flooding in low-lying areas and possible landslides in mountainous communities.
The public is urged to stay updated with official advisories from PAGASA and local government units to ensure proper preparedness and safety.
